My name is Alan Broome and I am the new music teacher at Santiago. I originally am from New Orleans, LA. This is my eleventh year teaching music and first year in the Acero network. I received my bachelors of music education from Loyola University of New Orleans in 2003 and moved out to Las Vegas where I taught middle school and high school orchestra and guitar for six years. While teaching in Las Vegas I completed my masters degree in music education from Northern Arizona University and my masters degree in jazz studies. I moved back home to play music professionally for eight years then moved up to Chicago to be closer to family. I taught Pre-K to 8th grade at Robert Nathaniel Dett Elementary for three years and that is how I ended up at Santiago. I am very excited to grow a thriving music program that the whole school community can be proud of. While my passion is teaching music, I do love learning Spanish, doing yoga, listening to and playing music, bowling, reading, spending time with my family, watching baseball, creating art, and playing word games like Boggle and Quiddler while listening to vinyl records.
