Ms. Tomasa Gonzalez -1st Grade Bilingual Teacher

Welcome, my name is Ms. Tomasa Gonzalez. I am the 1st grade Bilingual Teacher here at Esmeralda Santiago Elementary. This is my second year teaching and I enjoy teaching young learners in English and Spanish. In our classroom, we focus on building a strong foundation in reading, writing, and math while celebrating both languages and cultures. I believe every child learns best in a caring, and supportive environment. I strive to make each day exciting and meaningful for all students. 

 

Some information about myself is that I grew up in Chicago, IL. I attended Chicago Public Schools for most of my educational journey. When I decided I wanted to become a teacher I was attending the University of Illinois at Chicago. I became very passionate teaching elementary students (K-2). After attaining my Bachelors Degree in Education, I been looking for opportunities for growth as an educator and that led me to Esmeralda Santiago Elementary. 

 

When I am not in school, I spend my free time with my family and friends. I usually like taking walks to the park or beach, playing board games/card games, and watching movies. Furthermore, I look forward to working together with you to help your child have a successful and joyful year in 1st grade!
